Clarification on the energy labelling requirements for luminaires01
This Regulation also discontinued, as of 25th December 2019, the old energy label dedicated to luminaires in Delegated Regulation (EU) No 874/2012.This means that the old energy label may no longer be applied for luminaires placed on the EU market.
The scope of Regulation (EU) 2019/2015 also covers light sources placed on the market in a “containing product” (e.g. a luminaire which contains a light source). For such containing products the Regulation requires that, from 1st March 20221 , information is provided on the energy efficiency class of the contained light source, using the following sentence:
This product contains a light source of energy efficiency class (where shall be replaced by the energy efficiency class of the contained light source)

An energy label can only be shown, and must be shown, on a luminaire if the supplier has identified and verified this luminaire as a light source and has therefore also registered the required information on the EPREL database.
